COVID-19 Information

Dalton Logo

The City of Dalton is closely monitoring the situation with the COVID-19 novel coronavirus outbreak. The City is working with the state's Department of Health to keep the people of Dalton informed on the best ways to protect themselves and their families from the illness, and our leaders are working with our business community to do everything in our power to mitigate the impact of the virus on both Dalton's businesses large and small as well as their employees. City leaders are also in regular contact with both the local and state DPH and we are working to relay updates to our community.

Masks

The use of face masks is required to enter all city of Dalton facilities, including city hall. Resolution 20-15 was approved by the City Council on August 17th, and it states that during the term of the current State of Emergency declared by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, all members of the public are required to wear a face-covering that covers the nose and mouth while inside city buildings. City staff are also required to wear face masks while in public areas of city-owned buildings and also when physically meeting with other employees in non-public areas of the buildings. View information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on the use of face masks, including how to properly wear face masks and how to make them.

Resources

For current and credible information on the virus, the City of Dalton recommends these online resources: The Georgia State Department of Health's North Georgia Health District, serving Dalton and Whitfield County, has created a special website with COVID-19 Information For North Georgians. The DPH is also updating its status report page on the viral outbreak twice daily.

The Georgia Family Collaborative Page also has a number of resources including links to food and financial assistance, digital learning resources, free internet resources, and more.

The Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau has a good resource online that includes a listing of Dalton restaurants offering drive-through or carryout services.

The Downtown Dalton Development Authority has also launched a new website highlighting downtown's restaurant options, with information on drive-through and curbside takeaway options.
