City Clerk Bernadette Chattam acquired the management task to implement a City wide Technology Department, to oversee the implementation, maintenance and infrastructure of the City's network.
The IT Department is responsible for maintaining the City's LAN's (local Area Network) and WAN's (Wide Area Network) Including City Hall, (5) Fire Departments, Police Department, Municipal Court, Recreation and Public Works Departments with 300 Users and Approximately 250 Personal Computers with 35 Servers (including 20 virtual Servers).
Darin Waldrop was hired in September 2011 as the new City IT Director. Darin was previously the MIS Systems Manager for 8 years at the Dalton Police Department. He helped implement the City’s new IT Infrastructure Virtualization project and continues to manage the system today. He is also the Administrator for the Police Departments Spillman Records Management System. Darin has been in the IT field for 10 years and graduated from Dalton State College with a degree in Computer Operations.
